Sub-zero Summits
A mountain region of killing cold, stripped of vegetation and ruled by the Snowbiters.
A medium-sized region of punishing extremes, the Sub-zero Summits is defined entirely by its brutal cold and the ruthless creatures that thrive within it, making it one of the most hostile and difficult regions to inhabit in the entire world of Baroque. The landscape is dominated by an overwhelming density of mountains — towering, snow-covered peaks that stretch endlessly across the region and serve as both a defining geographic feature and a form of natural fortification, creating a terrain that is as defensively formidable as it is inhospitable to anyone trying to survive within it. The climate is not just cold but harshly, relentlessly dry and freezing, stripping the region of almost all vegetation and leaving the land barren save for the abundant ore deposits buried throughout — making the Sub-zero Summits resource-valuable in terms of mining but deeply impractical for any civilization trying to sustain itself through agriculture or farming. The most notorious inhabitants of the region are the Snowbiters, vicious creatures that have carved out dominance over this frozen landscape and are the primary reason the region is so dangerous to inhabit — their constant aggression toward the village of Nivora, which sits within this region, has shaped that settlement's entire culture, military structure, and way of life, with The Glacier Force existing specifically to manage the ongoing threat these creatures pose.
