The Luxian Empire

The wealthiest and most technologically advanced kingdom in Baroque, built on a resource-rich Sky Island and ruled by an All Father-worshipping monarchy.

Classified as a Superior nation and governed by a Monarchy, the Luxian Empire is one of the most powerful, wealthy, and technologically advanced kingdoms in all of Baroque, residing high above the world in the Sky Islands region and drawing immediate comparisons to Asgard from Norse mythology in its grandeur and elevated status. Its foundation was built on extraordinary luck — the empire was established on a Sky Island abundant in rare ores and fortune, and those early resources gave the nascent nation a massive head start over its rivals, funding innovation, military strength, and architectural development that compounded over generations into an empire of unrivaled superiority. The original inhabitants also carried significant genetic advantages that evolved over time into the Luxian people's signature physical prowess and exceptional endurance, making them naturally superior warriors and athletes in addition to being wealthy and technologically advanced. The empire spans the entirety of its island and is almost entirely urban, filled with lavish, architecturally stunning buildings that follow a deep color palette of black, gold, and blue with frequent use of marble, creating a skyline that feels simultaneously royal, imposing, and divine. Religion plays a massive role in Luxian society, with a large and radical body of All Father worshippers holding enormous influence over politics and governance, shaping national decisions and cultural values around their devotion to the deity. Economically, the Luxian Empire dominates — rich in gold, marble, deep slate, precious ores, and a vast reservoir of conductive metals and materials, all mined directly from the island itself, the empire is a titan in trade markets and does not hesitate to steal resources from weaker kingdoms to further fuel its wealth and technological edge. The climate is relatively cold due to the extreme altitude of the Sky Islands, with frequent thunderstorms rolling through the urban landscape, and the only notable fauna on the island is the lightning firefly known as the Zippercadia, a creature that fits seamlessly into the empire's electric and stormy aesthetic.
