Zippercadia

Zippercadia — Classified as a Low Threat and belonging to the bug species, the Zippercadia are small, dragonfly-like insects native to the colder areas of the Sky Islands, where they exist in large and abundant swarms, zipping through the air with the erratic, rapid movement of water skippers but airborne, their dark blue bodies traced with light blue lines and encased in relatively hard shells that protect them from the environment. What makes the Zippercadia far more remarkable than their small size suggests is their innate ability to conduct and chain electricity between one another — when two or more Zippercadia are in proximity, they naturally form living electrical connections, and when enough of them gather together, the combined electrical output of their chained network becomes genuinely devastating, transforming a swarm of tiny insects into a cascading web of lethal voltage. They are completely immune to electricity and shocks themselves, which is what allows them to sustain and channel these connections without harm. In terms of behavior, the Zippercadia are naturally evasive and conflict-averse, preferring to avoid other living things unless forced into contact, and they sleep while airborne inside clouds to stay hidden and protected — a clever survival adaptation that, combined with their incredible speed, makes them extremely difficult to catch under normal circumstances. Their diet is simple, consisting of other bugs and seeds, and their intelligence is average — just enough to know how to survive. Despite their evasiveness, The Luxian Empire has developed a brutal and highly effective method of weaponizing them: Zippercadia are captured in large quantities and frozen to the precise threshold where they remain alive but completely paralyzed, then mounted onto arrows fired by thousands of Luxian troops simultaneously, creating a massive, sky-spanning conducting chain of arrows that delivers an enormous coordinated electrical strike — turning the empire's most abundant local insect into one of its most fearsome military assets.
